چکیده
Results Fifty-four patients out of 102 women suspected of having posterior DPE underwent laparoscopic surgery. Among these, in 46 (85.2%) cases DPE was confirmed at laparoscopic and histological examination. Sonovaginography correctly identified 43 (93.5%) cases, presenting higher accuracy than did the other procedures. Sonovaginography and MRI were more accurate in diagnosing and discriminating between the different locations of endometriotic lesions, with respective sensitivities of 94.7 and 73.1% for vaginal fornix, 88.9 and 66.7% for the uterosacral ligaments and 80.6 and 83.3% for involvement of the rectovaginal septum. The specificity of sonovaginography and MRI, respectively, was 97.1 and 94.3% for vaginal fornix, 95.6 and 95.6% for uterosacral ligaments and 100 and 77.8% for involvement of the rectovaginal septum. In the diagnosis of rectal endometriosis, •we found a sensitivity of 66.7% for both techniques and AQ3

O-19: A Comparison of Pelvic Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Trans-Vaginal and Trans-Rectal Sonography with Laparoscopic Findings in The Diagnosis of Deep Infiltrating Endometriosis
Background The performance of TVS, TRS and MRI for the diagnosis of DIE have been separately reported in earlier studies. However, the three methods have not been concurrently compared in terms of their overall performance and classified results as per different anatomical locations of DIE lesions in a large study population. This study was an attempt to compare pelvic magnetic resonance imagin...

Background: To compare the value of physical examination, transvaginal sonography (TVS), rectal endoscopic sonography (RES), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for the assessment of different locations of deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE). Materials and Methods: Ninety-two consecutive patients with clinical evidence of pelvic endometriosis. Physical examination, TVS, RES, and MRI, perform...
متن کاملThe ‘sliding sign’ in conjunction with sonovaginography: is this the optimal approach for the diagnosis of Pouch of Douglas obliteration and posterior compartment deep infiltrating endometriosis?
Introduction: Endometriosis is a chronic peritoneal disease that may progress as a deep infiltrating lesion involving the posterior compartment of the pelvis. Efforts to improve pre-operative knowledge of the location and extent of these lesions have resulted in the development of Transvaginal ultrasound (TVS) as the first-line imaging modality for extra-ovarian endometriosis. However, various ...

To determine the diagnostic accuracy of pelvic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), transvaginal sonography (TVS), and transrectal sonography (TRS) in diagnosis of deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE).This diagnostic accuracy study was conducted during a 2-year period including a total number of 317 patients with signs and symptoms of endometriosis. All the patients were evaluated by pelvic MRI, ...
متن کاملSonovaginography: redefining the concept of a “normal pelvis” on transvaginal ultrasound pre‐laparoscopic intervention for suspected endometriosis
Office sonovaginography (SVG) challenges the concept of the "normal" pelvic ultrasound in women with chronic pelvic pain and suspected endometriosis. When positive for posterior compartment deep infiltrating endometriosis, with or without Pouch of Douglas obliteration, office SVG allows for triaging of women to the appropriately trained advanced laparoscopic gynaecological and colorectal surgic...
